Who is it for?

It is the active form of this vitamin, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin D (or calcitriol), which increases the intestine's capacity to absorb calcium, reduces urinary leakage and mobilises bone calcium.

Vitamin K2, by activating several vitamin K-dependent proteins including osteocalcin and MGP (Matrix GLA-Protein), is necessary for building bone and for
inhibition of vascular calcification.

Osteocalcin is a non-collagenous bone matrix protein synthesised by osteoblasts. In the presence of vitamin K2, osteocalcin is able to bind calcium ionised to promote the formation of hydroxyapatite crystals, essential components of the mineral substance of bone, which ensure its rigidity and solidity.
PGMs are Proteins secreted by myoendothelial cells in the arterial wall, whose role is to inhibit calcification.

In short, vitamins D and K2 act in synergy: vitamin D increases calcium absorption and vitamin K2 is needed to fix the calcium in the right place.
